The Traverses - Which one is right for me?

We’ve launched two new ultra races in 2024 which now gives you even MORE CHOICE of which event to sign up to! Sometimes a bit too much choice makes it difficult to decide… so we’ve broken down each route for you. Keep scrolling for all of the information you need!

The SILVA Dales Traverse™

How far do I have to run (..or walk)?

55km!

How much climbing do I have to do?

Circa 1,400m - the views will be worth it!

Why this one?

It’s the PERFECT choice if you are just starting out in the world of ultra running. Challenging, manageable, and a wonderful option to enter with friends who are also keen to explore new trails!

Where will the route take me?

From Kirkby Stephen to Richmond, passing through the North Pennines Area of Outstanding National Beauty. Then navigating the iconic Nine Standards, and weaving through Swaledale into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, before its concluding finish below Richmond Castle.

the SILVA Moors Traverse™

How far do I have to run (..or walk)?

A little bit further than the SILVA Dales Traverse™… this is 80km!

How much climbing do I have to do?

Circa 1,600m - wonderful views absolutely guaranteed!

Why this one?

It’s PERFECT if you are wanting to explore some lesser known gems in the North York Moors and add in some extra training towards your bigger race goals this year!

Where will the route take me?

The route follows Wainwright’s coast-to-coast route from Ingleby Cross to Robin Hood’s Bay. Beginning at Ingleby Cross, the route hugs the spectacular northern edge of the North York Moors National Park before winding through eastern Yorkshire and culminating in a magnificent finish at Robin Hood’s Bay.

The SILVA Lakes Traverse™

How far do I have to run (..or walk)?

A challenging 100km!

How much climbing do I have to do?

Circa 3,500m - your legs will love the challenge!

Why this one?

It’s the PERFECT stepping stone for those aspiring to enter the SILVA Northern Traverse™. You set your pace and journey to the finish line in this continuous race, all while enjoying the ever changing scenery!

Where will the route take me?

This ultra crosses the entire width of the Lake District National Park and starts alongside the SILVA Northern Traverse™ in St. Bees on the west coast. The route traverses Ennerdale, Borrowdale, over Grasmere Common, past Grisedale Tarn, through Patterdale, over Kidsty Pike and along Haweswater to finish at Shap.

The SILVA Northern Traverse™

How far do I have to run (..or walk)?

Oh, only the whole way from the West Coast of England to the East Coast… a mere 300km!

How much climbing do I have to do?

Circa 6,500m - strong legs at the ready!

Why this one?

It’s the PERFECT opportunity to really push yourself to your limits. Do you know what they are? Once the whistle blows, you have to get to the finish line. What will your journey look like?

Where will the route take me?

The event has a strong adventurous ethos and culture of self-sufficiency. Beginning at St Bees on the west coast, the route crosses the north of England through three National Parks finishing in Robin Hood’s Bay on the east coast, taking in iconic mountains, valleys and moors.
